Most of us read to feel something. Sometimes we want a good mystery to solve, or we need a comedy to help us laugh a little. Or - Soft Girl Summer! - sometimes we want a book that makes us happy but doesn't make us think too hard. But as weird as it sounds, sometimes we get in a mood, or we enter our own chapter in lives where we crave some deep emotion and a good cry. And a good book can do just that.

We surveyed our Babble community and asked them what books made them cry. We're talking get the tissues, sobbing, tears streaming, family asking "what's wrong with mom?" kind of books. Check them out below (in no particular order):
Talented Authors To Seek Out For A Good Cry
Nicholas Sparks (of course): His books are well-written, his characters seems so real and you really can't help but become emotionally involved from the start. We love love and we love a good cry.
Kristin Hannah: We're huge Kristin Hannah fans at Babble. She always writes about women finding their strength in seemingly impossible situations. As you read her books you cheer on these amazing women...and eventually shed some tears as they try to overcome. You can't go wrong with one of her books, but these are our top four for a good cry.
Ruta Sepetys: Historical fiction so well-written you feel like you lived through these momentous events yourself. You'll get attached to these beautiful characters and cry when they cry.
Colleen Hoover - some, not all of her books, will require tissues. But these two were definitely at the top of our list.
