I love a holiday. I love a movie. I love a theme. I love snuggling up with my family. Halloween doesn’t have to mean nightmares, gore, or weeks of your kid sleeping on your floor (looking at you, Coraline). Whether you’re in the mood for cozy pumpkin vibes, a little playful spook, or a full-on fright fest once the little goblins are in bed, we’ve rounded up the best non-scary(ish) Halloween movies to stream this season.

So grab your candy corn, light a cinnamon candle, and pick your level of scare—from “toddler-safe cute” to “cover-your-eyes-but-don’t-turn-it-off.”

👶 EXTREMELY KID-FRIENDLY

(Zero nightmares, just giggles and pumpkins.)

  • 🎃 Spookly the Square Pumpkin – The sweetest little pumpkin with a big heart. Perfect for the tiniest Halloween fans. Stream on Netflix or PBS Kids. 💬 Babble says: The kids have been obsessed since they were tiny—and honestly, I still think it’s adorable.

  • 🧙‍♀️ Room on the Broom – A kind witch, loyal friends, and gentle lessons about teamwork. Short, sweet, and cozy. Watch on PBS Kids or Apple TV.

  • 👻 Monsters, Inc. – Monsters who collect screams but discover laughter is stronger—pure Pixar magic. Stream on Disney+. 💬 Babble says: family fav for sure!

  • 🏨 Hotel Transylvania – Dracula runs a monster-only resort until a human stumbles in. Watch on Hulu or The Roku Channel.

  • 🎃 It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown – Pure nostalgia and pumpkin patch magic. Available on Apple TV+.

  • 💀 Coco – Technically Día de los Muertos, but too beautiful to skip. Gorgeous music, heart, and color. Disney+.

💬 Babble says: These are your “safe zone” picks—perfect for popcorn, PJs, and zero post-bedtime fears.

🕸️ A LITTLE SPOOKY

(Fun scares, but everyone still sleeps fine.)

  • 👻 Casper – The friendliest ghost with the sweetest haunted mansion. Stream on Hulu or Paramount+.

  • 🧹 Hocus Pocus – The Sanderson sisters are back and still hilarious. Disney+.

  • 🖤 The Addams Family – Creepy, kooky, and weirdly lovable. Hulu or Max.

  • 🐶 Frankenweenie – Tim Burton’s black-and-white Frankenstein homage—with a very good boy. Disney+.

  • 👦 ParaNorman – Ghosts, bullies, and the most lovable little weirdo. Netflix or Max.

  • ⚡ Harry Potter series – Wands, trolls, moving staircases, and cozy magic. Peacock or Max.

  • 📚 Goosebumps – Just spooky enough to make you jump once or twice. Paramount+.

  • 🗺️ The Goonies – Skeletons, pirate treasure, and friendship goals. Netflix. 💬 Babble says: Would you consider this a Halloween movie? There’s a lot of skeletons so it made my list.)

💬 Babble says: These are your “lights-dimmed-but-not-off” movies.

💀 SPOOKY FOR GROWN-UPS

(You can call it “festive,” but you’ll need wine.)

  • 👻 Beetlejuice – Weird, wild, and delightfully undead. Max.

  • 🐾 Gremlins – Starts cute, ends chaotic—don’t feed them after midnight! Max.

  • 🧛 Twilight Series – Brooding vampires, love triangles, and small-town angst. Hulu or Prime.

  • 🚫 Ghostbusters (all versions) – From ’84 to Afterlife, the most fun you’ll ever have busting ghosts. Netflix or Max.

  • 💋 Interview with a Vampire – Gorgeous, gothic, and filled with eternal drama. Starz.

  • 👽 E.T. – Not scary, but nostalgic and a little eerie—counts as Halloween-adjacent. Max.

  • 🎭 Mean Girls – Not horror, but the Halloween party scene is iconic. Paramount+. 💬 Babble says: I had a friend tell me this movie doesn't get the recognition it deserves. An all encompassing holiday movie with a big Halloween scene and clearly Christmas too.

💬 Babble says: For when the kids are asleep and you want fall fun without actual fear.

🩸 FULL-ON FRIGHT NIGHT

(For the brave ones among us.)

  • 🪡 Coraline – If you like eerie stop-motion and mild trauma (kidding… kind of). Netflix.💬 Babble says: This is the movie that made me sit outside my son’s room for a year. Watch at your own risk.

  • 🌲 The Blair Witch Project – Found-footage creepiness that still makes camping questionable. Hulu or Prime.

  • 🤖 Five Nights at Freddy’s – Animatronic nightmares come alive. Peacock.

  • 🔪 The Purge – One night of no laws, total chaos, and a whole lot of nope. Hulu.

  • 🧠 Get Out – Smart, chilling, and unforgettable. Max.

💬 Babble says: Enter at your own risk—and maybe double-check your locks first.
