New Years is like the holy grail for someone like me who loves self development as much as she loves planning.

Below are a couple of my favorite resources to get you going and set you on the right track for a fantastic new year!

Listen To This

🎙️The Rachel Hollis Podcast Episode 361; How to Do A Calendar Audit to Set Yourself Up for the BEST YEAR EVER!! December 30, 2022

I loved this episode when I listened to it three years ago and found out some pretty interesting things when I did my calendar audit. Set aside an hour and make it enjoyable, make a cup of tea, light a candle, get some good music going and follow the steps in Rachel's episode to help you decide how to best spend your time in the new year ahead. Not only will it make you more productive, but it will make sure you are prioritizing the things most important to you and self care as well.

🎙️The Rachel Holllis Podcast Episodes 358 & 359: How To Set Your New Year’s Intention: Parts 1 & 2 (December 27 & 28, 2022)

I just gave these a brief re-listen to get jazzed up for 2026 because I had bookmarked them after they really motivated me going into 2023 and 2024 AND 2025! Scroll back in her episodes and head out for a walk while you take time to figure out what your intentions are for 2026 and get motivated to make them happen. These episodes really helped shaped my last three years to make them incredible! A year filled with self growth in the areas I really set out to make some strides in.

  • The first episode (358) really focuses on not letting anyone or anything stand in the way of going after what you really desire. *If you are short on time, you can skip the first 14 1/2 minutes of the first episode to get to the goods.

  • The second episode (359) takes a deep dive into the 80/20 Rule which I hadn't heard of before and has shifted the way I think about how I spend my time and what balls you can and should drop or delegate. Not as much what you can add to your new year to make it incredible, but what can you take away so that you can focus on what you really want.

Also loved...

🎙️Episode 539 is the "It's Time For a Calendar Audit | How to Set Yourself Up For Success In The New Year! (this is SOOOO good.)

🎙️Episode 540: Setting Life Goals: A Guide for Finding Fulfillment In Your Life always inspiring!

Work On This

📖Mel Robbin's Best Year Workbook

(From 2024, but I checked and it's still there and still wonderful!)

Just print and dive in! This is a FREE workbook based on reflection of your past year and focusing on what you want to Start-Stop-Continue. Check it out here.

Note: Ideally the best way to use this resource is to listen to The Mel Robbins Podcast: How to Make 2024 The Best Year: 6 Questions to Ask Yourself (December 22, 2023) and then fill out the workbook.

Last year I did this exercise with my entire family Christmas night. I poured myself a big glass of wine, so I could cope with their whining, but it was worth it. They had really insightful things to say, not only about their past year, but we shared ideas around the table for each other that I think were impactful. We had to break it into two sessions, but again, I feel so glad that we did this activity.

Parenting Win!

I wish I would've learned these important life skills when I was younger so it is important for me to impart them on my kids, even if they hate them. What can take 30 minutes or an hour of your life can really set the stage for an incredible year ahead. Reflection is powerful and so is building a strategy toward your goals.

Simplify your New Year's focus with a Word of the Year!

This is absolutely the easiest way to keep your focus for the year simple and top of mind. You don't need to remember every single thing you wanted to accomplish, you just need an overall vibe for your year. We take a deep dive into that idea here including what we've learned four years into claiming our "Word of the Year".

"If you don't make a plan, you plan to fail."

The saying "If you don't make a plan, you plan to fail" is real. Every. Single. Person could benefit from making plans and goals as we head into the new year. It is the perfect time of year to reflect on what is working, what isn't and what shot we want to take in 2026. Let's f&*$ing go! I'm cheering you on!
